NORDIC-BALTIC ROMA INSTITUTE

North Roma Institute

Practical Roma institute for the Baltic-Nordic region: Estonia, Baltics and Scandinavia.

We work with Roma families, local entrepreneurs, and public institutions to turn vulnerable communities into real partners in the economy and civic life, not just project target groups.

What we actually do

Economic pilot projects

We design and run practical pilots in services, trades, and local tourism.

Community mapping

We build confidential capability maps of families, skills, and risks.

Bridge between worlds

We translate between Roma communities, institutions, and investors.

Focus areas

1. Economic participation

Pilot projects where Roma are minority partners in real businesses: farms, services, light industry, forestry and wild products, together with experienced entrepreneurs.

2. Civic and political participation

Practical work with Roma families on rights, responsibilities, elections and representation. We help new Roma leaders grow and connect them with democratic institutions.

3. BalticNordic cooperation

Cross-border projects between Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Nordic countries (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark), where Roma are not only beneficiaries, but co-designers and co-owners of initiatives.

Mission

North Roma Institute is a Roma-led, trust-based platform that:

Our work starts in Estonia and the Baltic region and extends to Roma networks across Finland, Sweden and other Nordic countries.
